- this site by the Minerals Council of Australia contains a good overview of mining, including environmental effects of mining.

- Seaweb, a project of the Pew Charitable Trusts, is designed to raise awareness of the world ocean and the life within it.  This excellent and informative site by a multi-billion-dollar trust discusses environmental conditions in the oceans with news and links to many similar sites.  Information specifically on the effects of mining on oceans is limited.
